Top 5 book choices tag

Allo mes jolis amis,

Today I welcome you to my room.

Since I was just a little girl I’ve always wanted to have a library like the one from ″Beauty and the Beast″. I have been fascinated with books my whole life and the stories they hold.

I was nominated to do this tag by my good friend Nebojsa on Facebook, but I decided to do the tag here. So, this is it: the list of top 5 book choices in my humble library.

5) ″The Witcher″ by Andrzej Sapkowski

(''The last wish'' and ''Blood of elves'')

These remarkable books are series of fantasy stories about the witcher called Geralt of Rivia (a monster hunter who was genetically modified in order to receive magical abilities which can help him fight dangerous creatures) and his adventures. So far I’ve read the first two books and I have the third sitting and waiting its turn. For all I could say without too much spoilers is that these books will spellbind you, but of course, only if you love the fantasy world. There’s a video game also created by the book, but not necessarily follows the plot. So if you like these sorts of books I warmly recommend this series.

4) ″The picture of Dorian Gray″ by Oscar Wilde

The first thing that mesmerized me in this book was Victorian era, which, for me, was one of the most beautiful times in England. Besides, this book is permeated by the original symbol of sin which spread throughout the whole book since inception until the very end, where it experiences the culmination.  There is something about the temptation, sins and redemption that fascinate me. I know that overall this is not the main focus of the book but, for me, it is, by far, the best secondary aspect ever.

3)″Necronomicon″ by H. P. Lovecraft

Necronomicon is a collection of horror short stories written by Lovecraft. I personally didn’t experience such fear from stories whilst reading, but an awe of how Lovecraft created these stories and the endings of each and every one of them. If you do not like reading horror, I suggest not opening this book because it’s not as scary as it is filled with creatures that create these illusions of horror. But then again, I love these types of things; therefore this book is in my top 5 list.

2) Le Fantôme de l'Opéra″ by Gaston Leroux

I’m sure you’ve all heard about the famous Phantom of the French Opera. For those who haven’t, Phantom of the Opera was the mad protagonist in Leroux’s novel. Now, I don’t think he was mad, but poor, unfortunate soul. Without any spoiler, Erik (that was Phantom’s name) experienced a big trauma in his childhood that followed him a great deal of time. While the French opera was being build, Erik created his very own room in the attic, without anyone knowing, where he stayed for a very long time.  Throughout the years, he became a phenomenal composer and an architect and that is how he earned money from the opera. But still he kept a little bit of madness in him. We are also being introduced with Christine Daaé (a daughter of the famous violinist who passed away) and her childhood sweetheart Raul. The rest is waiting for you to take the book and read it. I can guarantee that this book is exciting and very emotional. And even though it was published in 1909, this book is still popular today through numerous Broadway shows and movies, and it is undoubtedly one of my favourites.

1) ″Pride and prejudice″ by Jane Austen

This book is my little baby. It consists of 4 novels by Jane Austen, and the one I can point out is Pride and prejudice. This book is marvelous by its nature. It is about the five daughters and their adventures in Georgian-English society. It is quite non-fantasy, relaxing book, just the one for the sunny Sunday afternoon.

I couldn’t end this post without honorable mentions.

I am, I’m sure like the others, in love with Harry Potter books. It’s the feeling it gives me, a completely whole new world. And when I read these books I feel happy.  This world is not a mundane one. On contrary, it is filled with adventures and unusual, magical things. I admire Joan K. Rowling's inspiration and success, respect her as a writer, and I’m looking forward to reading more of her books.

So that’s it for now mes amis.

Be safe, strong and happy.

Yours truly,

P.S. I challenge you all to do this tag. It's quite interesting and fun.
Be sure to stay toned for more exciting blog posts. XO
