Sweet Christmas Snacks

Allo mes jolis amis and welcome back!

It’s getting that time of the year when everything becomes festive, exhilarating and inspiring. Although the sky became gloomy and the cold wind brought that wintery smell in my city, I am feeling happy because it is almost Christmas; the city light are getting brighter and besides, behind me is a desk with well lit candles and my lap top, waiting for me to start creating wonders. But not just yet. Before all that, I want to make some snacks and drinks to complete my relaxing time. Whether we are blogging, writing an article, studying or creating something great, there is always that short break when we take a snack for our soul and hopefully our inspiration. If you are lacking ideas, here are a couple of sweet food and beverages that can bring joy and motivation to you in these upcoming winter days.

Coffee and other beverages

No writer starts his day without coffee, without that magnificent smell of joy. It will instantly lighten up your mood as soon as you take your first sip. However, if you are not a coffee lover, put on a kettle for a nice cup of tea or make a hot chocolate, decorate it with chocolate sprinkles or petit marshmallows, et voila-you got yourself a sweet beverage. And, if it is really late and you just want to unwind alongside your lap top, treat yourself with a glass of wine-you deserved it after all.

Chocolate chip muffins

Now, it is a proven fact that the chocolate boosts your concentration and it is also a reason to be happy as soon as you take the first bite. These muffins are simple to make, and you can even get one of those special silicone molds for personalizing your muffins to look like roses, snowflakes, or even a tea cup.

Stroopwafel

Also known as caramel waffle is a classic coffee or a tea treat, traditionally in the morning. Stroopwafel is a stiff solid cookie that you can dip in your beverage. The best way to eat it is either at room temperature, or to heat it in the microwave for just a few seconds.

Vanilla and Banana smoothie

If you are feeling a little bit nostalgic about the summer, I have a solution for you:  Vanilla and Banana smoothie. This is quite refreshing drink with a soft twist. Just place one large chopped banana, 125 ml of plain or vanilla yoghurt, 1 tablespoon of honey, 35 ml vanilla syrup(if plain yoghurt) in a blender and you’re good to go. Ice cubes are completely optional. Enjoy.

Iced Gingerbread man

This is the cute, little festive cookie perfect for the time around Christmas. The first gingerbread man dates back to 16th century when Elizabeth I of England had this cookie made and ornamented as her important guests. So you can also have fun decorating these cookies to make them look like someone you love or, if you are a writer, you can have fun and simply create new characters for your next novel.

These are just a couple of ideas of how you can sweeten up your inspiration. Just remember: One cannot think well, love well, and sleep well if one has not dined well. (Virginia Woolf)
Now, while candles are lit, the sky is orange and the snow is so bright, sit down, enjoy the snack as your imagination comes to life.

Bon Apetite.

P.S. Be safe, strong and happy,
Yours truly,
